On 17 March, the staff, students and management committee of the Gilly Mundy Memorial Community School held their fourth annual Foundation Day celebrations and were joined by five BKIT trustees from the UK. The event also marked the fifth anniversary of Gilly’s death in 2007. Here are some photos from the day:
During the recent visit to the Gilly Mundy Memorial Community School in India, BKIT trustees Debbie Mundy and Maggie McGreevy worked with students from class 3A on a creative project called ‘The Teddy Bear Diary’. Each day, three members of the class took home a digital camera and a teddy bear to photograph their bear’s “adventures” at the child’s home. Debbie plans to produce a book of these pictures for all class members.
Here are some of the pictures taken by the children . They form part of a new Facebook page dedicated to the students at the school.
In September and October, trustees from the Buwan Kothi International Trust travelled to India, staying in the village of Buwan Kothi in Haryana and spending time with the staff and students of the Gilly Mundy Memorial Community School.
During the visit, trustees were able to assist the school with its financial management, meet the District Commissioner to talk about the installation of broadband internet access and solar panels and set up a new website at www.gmmcs.in
Here are some photos of the school taken by one of the trustees. A more detailed account will be included in our next annual report.
